What's the difference between LCD and LED?

LCD and LED both have very fabulous difference.LCD stands for liquid crystal display.LED And LCD are both liquid crystal display.LCD displays contains two glass layers which are polarized together. In order to display the picture on the screen the liquid crystals block or pass the light. In case of LCD the fluorescent lamps at the back of the screen are used, while in LED the lights used at the back of the screen are called light emitting diodes (LED).
In the LED use of back lighting two methods are used which are full array lighting and edge lighting. Most of the method used is the edge lightning.

Comparison:

  • In LCD 13 to 57 inches are available while in LED almost all the sizes available.
  • In LCD TVs minimum thickness is 1 inch, while in LED is less than 1 inch available.
  •  The power consumption in case of LCD require more compare to OLED TVs but less compare to plasma. While in case of LED, LED TVs consumes less power compare to plasma round about 70 percent.
  • In LCD HCFL(Hot Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) or CCFL(Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) is used as a source of back light, whereas in LED Light Emitting Diode- (uses RGB - red green blue led) as a back light is used. RGB creates more deeper color than the white LED used.
  • LCD consumes more power than the LED as the back light use in LCD TV require more current, Whereas inside LED TV light emitting diode(LED) require less current.
  • LEDs are more expensive than LCDs.
